EUROPEN and FEFCO call for green lane border crossings to support F&B producers
Members of EUROPEN (European Organisation for Packaging and the Environment) and FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers) have called on the European Commission to guarantee the free movement of packaged products throughout the EU by means of green lane border crossings.
“There have been delays and interruptions in the transit of packaged goods and packaging materials at borders,” said a EUROPEN spokesperson.
FEFCO has announced that corrugated board plants in Europe are working at full capacity to guarantee deliveries to key sectors. “The industry urges governments to keep borders open and make it easy for trucks to pass as such transports are vital for the medical and food sectors,” said FEFCO Secretary General Angelika Christ.
