Orienta Partners acquires Virosac

In a club deal promoted by Orienta Partners, a group of Italian and international investors has acquired 100% of the shares of Virosac (Pederobba-Treviso), one of the largest Italian producers of biodegradable bags for food and waste.

The deal will enable the Treviso-based company to strengthen its position in the Italian market, maintain its ambitious programme of investments for future growth and expand its presence in international markets, including through potential acquisitions.

Virosac was founded in 1973 by Graziano Virago and Giorgio Rossetto and in 1991 became the first Italian company in the homecare sector to obtain a licence to use biopolymers. Over the years, it has continued to strengthen its leadership position in the biodegradable bag market and now has a market share of more than 20%.

In 2018 Virosac produced more than 1.5 billion bags and generated revenue of €39.7 million.
