Innovation according to Fruit Logistica
Two Italians and various examples of innovative packaging are on the list of “top” candidates at the Fruit Logistica Innovation Awards 2014 (FLIA), to be selected by a jury of experts for the organizers Messe Berlin and Fruchtadel Magazine.
The candidatures will be presented at the next edition of the fair (Berlin, February 5th-7th, 2014) and voted on by an international audience which, according to projections, should exceed 58,000 in attendance. The winners will be announced on February 7th.
Competing will be new food products and various packaging systems: from vegetable-based breadcrumbs by Aureli Mario to the dried orange slices snack by Azienda Agricola Campobasso Marco; from packaging with prolonged shelf-life by BrimaPack BV (NL) to reusable folding containers for bananas by the German IFCO Systems and recyclable beechwood netting by Verpackungszentrum Graz (A). The list of nominations is made complete with a machine for separating grapes from the vine developed by ZTI Mechatronics (NL) and a few unprecedented food products: the convenience “BBQ grill mix” for fans of grilling by Eisberg Group (CH); the “Oriental Mixed Living Salad” in a jar by Home Harvest Salads Ltd (UK); the exotic and intensely flavored Uurú organic banana proposed by Internationale Fruchtimport (D); and, last but not least, the “Fioretto” cauliflower with two heads by Tokita Seed (J).
