Italian labeling on the increase
During the 28th Technical Meeting held last November 28, Gipea presented the first study on trends in the labeling supply chain which collects and compares the performance of converters, brand owners, materials and capital goods suppliers.
The European ranking for 2013 is dominated by Eastern European countries, which have grown at a rate of +6.9% on average, but Southern Europe is ranked second, with France, Italy, Spain, Greece and France at +3.5 %.
Moreover, if we consider the data for the first months of 2014, Southern Europe jumps to the top of the rating, with an excellent 9.9%. As the performance of the materials, plastic is growing more than paper if we look at the rolls, but paper is ahead when considering sheets (and between sheets and rolls the latter show the greatest increase). The data also show a Southern Europe more inclined towards consumption of paper and a North decidedly more plastic oriented. And Italy? In 2013 the Italian market was worth 740 million euros, in fourth place in Europe with a share of 14.7%, and with an average trend of +5.8% over the past 5 years. And from June to September 2014, the turnover of Italian labeling grew by 8.8%.
