Packaging Première 2019
28th-30th May 2019, Fieramilanocity, Pavilion 4, Milan
Thanks to the success of the previous editions (the 2018 edition registered a +60% of visitors), the fair focused on luxury packaging and organized by Pier Paolo Ponchia offers itself as an opportunity to enhance an entire sector, able to entrust the products to “forms” that bring the tangible and recognizable sign to the world of high end products.
Inaugurated in 2017 with 96 exhibitors, mostly Italian, the exhibition’s current aim is to increase the number of exhibitors (230 are forecast) and foreign visitors, especially Europeans. «Every year we see a growing interest from foreign brands and companies. At the first edition the percentage of foreign exhibitors was 25%, but we aim to reach 40-50% over time, thus asserting the concept of an international fair based in Milan» states Ponchia, stressing however that the event will remain relatively exclusive and “selective”, with a maximum of 280 exhibitors in the coming years.
The attention paid to art and design remains a strongpoint of Packaging Première. «Design is an essential element of the fair, partly because Milan is its capital, partly because Packaging Première is scheduled between the Milan Furniture Fair and Milan Fashion Week. During the last edition - the organizer recalls - our Paper Art Gallery presented works by renowned artists who work with paper while this year, the works of art will be inspired by wood, plastic and glass».
The coordinated image of the gallery will be curated by Lorenzo Petrantoni, an internationally renowned artist, who creates illustrations through the assembly of images recovered from old dictionaries of the late nineteenth century, a historical period that has deeply fascinated him and influences his entire production.
