Strategic alliances protagonists on the road to Ipack Ima and Pharmintech
The 8th October was a busy day in Milan, as Ipack Ima announced the details of its strategic alliance with INFORMA and the upcoming Pharmintech by Ipack Ima, a vertical market event originating from its partnership with BolognaFiere.
The dual events Ipack Ima and Pharmintech, which will be taking place at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition centre from 27th to 30th May 2025, will be focussing on internationalisation and regulation of the pharmaceuticals market.
A topic of discussion at the press conference on Tuesday October 8th, details such as the goals, strategic alliances, and plans to increase the attractiveness and global leadership of the event were unveiled.
During the first part of the morning, a presentation was provided of the terms of the synergic agreement with INFORMA, which is intended to bolster the role of the Milan fair as a leading event for the processing and packaging communities. As part of the day's activities, Informa Markets and Ipack Ima outlined the details of the agreement sealed a few months ago, during Propak Asia, which establishes a strategic alliance aimed at developing international promotion and cross-selling activities for the respective trade fairs in the portfolio, Ipack Ima, Propak, and Fispal.
Global objectives
The agreement therefore guarantees a global exhibition presence for processing, packaging, and materials technologies with a focus on industries in which Ipack Ima leads the way, such as food and beverages, grain-based products, through to liquids and pharmaceuticals, which is the target market for Pharmintech by Ipack Ima. This objective is being pursued through shared dissemination activities, including a series of events and seminars proposed by Ipack Ima on topics of interest for the packaging, processing, and materials industry which are of strategic importance to both players.
An integrated platform presented through the voices of key industry leaders
Informa Markets and Ipack Ima have therefore agreed on the terms of an integrated platform that aims to heighten the visibility of the two brands in international markets. With a view to boosting global growth, the partnership will enable Ipack Ima to further solidify its international standing as a leading event for technology. It will also enhance its presence in key European markets like France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium, while increasing participation from strategic markets such as India and the United States. At the same time, Informa will benefit from the direct presence of Ipack Ima in the Italian and Turkish markets, which will help attract new exhibitors to its exhibition network.
"As soon as we signed the agreement - begins Fraser Hawkes, managing director and international sales officer at Informa Markets - we began to see the synergies and opportunities it would bring. Thanks to our vast experience and extensive network in the key industries served by our ProPak Global portfolio, IPACK-IMA and ProPak are uniquely positioned to promote innovation and offer added value to customers around the world".
Chair of Ipack Ima Valerio Soli echoed these thoughts when he stated that "The agreement is wholly in line with our business plan, which envisages driving the growth and internationalisation of our fair by expanding collaborations and presence in other markets, in order to position Ipack Ima as a fair organiser with a global reach".
Food and non-food with pharmaceuticals taking centre stage
The partnership with Bologna Fiere for the organisation of Pharmintech By Ipack Ima meanwhile, is focussed on a specific market. This long-running event targets one of the leading European markets in which Italy is renowned for excellence. The event, which focuses on process and packaging technologies and solutions for the life science industries, is held at the same time as IPACK-IMA in order to create a supply chain project that encompasses all the components of the value chain serving the world of pharmaceuticals, parapharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals, nutrition, biotechnology, clean rooms, and medical devices. Content will span technology to digitalisation, the study of new materials to sustainability, alongside regulation and certification, which are vital for the pharmaceuticals market.

The press conference adopted a round table format, with the participation of Sergio Dompé – chair and director, Dompé Farmaceutici, Alberto Bartolini – CEO at Cit Pharma and chair of the Pharmintech 2025 steering committee, Valerio Soli - CEO Industrial Market Solution Division at Coesia and chair of Ipack Ima, Rossano Bozzi, Corporate Business Development Department, BolognaFiere.
