Canned tomatoes help pediatric oncology
On 10 - 11 March 2018 the Umberto Veronesi Foundation will be in 100 piazzas throughout Italy for the first edition of “The Tomatoe. A fruit low in sugar, high in fiber, vitamins C and E and minerals, the tomato contains bioactive molecules such as polyphenols, powerful antioxidants and carotenoids including lycopene, and is studied as an adjunct in strengthening the immune system and in the prevention of some types of cancer.
With a minimum donation of 10 euros, a pack with three cans of tomatoes, in the peeled, chopped and cherry tomatoes and versions, will be distribute: an initiative made possible thanks to the collaboration and support of ANICAV (National Industrial Association of Vegetable Preserves) and Ricrea (National Steel Packaging Recycling and Recovery Consortium)
