600_Anna-Paola-Cavanna_presidente_atto.jpgOn 29 May, in Piacenza, at the office of the notary Eloisa Alessandra Luini, Anna Paola Cavanna (in the photo), president of the Italian Packaging Institute, signed the articles of association of the Packaging Ethics Charter Foundation, of which she assumed the role of president.
Michele Amigoni (Barilla) and Ciro Sinagra (Laminazione Sottile) are members of the Foundation's Board of Directors, with director Chiara Faenza (Coopitalia) and the Institute's past president, Antonio Feola (Unionfood), as vice-president. Francesco Legrenzi, head of the Italian Packaging Institute, takes on the role of institutional director, while Mauro Peveri has been appointed sole auditor.

The Foundation takes its name from the Ethical Packaging Charter, born in 2015 from a shared reflection between the publisher Edizioni Dativo and the Milan Polytechnic, which has given rise to a document of principles to help accompany packaging towards a more conscious future.

The Ethical Charter was designed as a tool for a "system culture", based on 10 basic principles, which must feature in packaging: responsibility, balance, security, accessibility, transparency, information, contemporaneity, foresight, education and sustainability.

The Italian Packaging Institute in 2015 agreed to these principles and, today more than ever, considers them pertinent and acknowledged by sector operators and consumers alike. For this reason, it has considered it strategic to base the newly formed Foundation on them.

The aims of the Foundation include cultural promotion, training, including the training and updating of subjects who, in a professional or voluntary capacity, operate in the sectors of activity, and the promotion or participation in research activities, on the topics of particular interest in the sectors in which the Foundation's activities are carried out, also by way of the implementation of experimental undertakings.

Many projects are already under consideration for the Foundation's future activities: Study commissions for the environmental sustainability of packaging, university and post-graduate training, prizes for scientific research and ethical progress associated with packaging, publications and other activities of improvement along the packaging chain.

Aboveall, the implementation of the 10 basic principles that govern the guiding axis of the ethical charter of packaging feature the primary objective, via constant development, aimed at updating packaging with respect to the needs of modern society.
