Laminazione Sottile: an award for knowledge and knowhow
«For a management vision capable of developing internationally a well-established Campania region concern through a policy that has taken on innovative traits, both in terms of financial management and in the field of research».
With this statement, the company Laminazione Sottile is set to receive the 17th Capo d’Orlando Award in the category “Science and Industry”.
Worthy of note the fact that in the same event Sir André Geim, professor at the University of Manchester and Nobel laureate for Physics (2010), will be awarded in the category “Scientific Section”: he is considered one of the scientists responsible for the most important recent scientific discoveries (he discovered graphene and its applications, which opened new socio-economic possibilities worldwide).
The award will be presented on 8 May 2015 at Vico Equense (NA), with local authorities and recipients of the various categories in attendance. Massimo Moschini, managing director of Laminazione Sottile SpA, will receive the silver plaque. And so recognition is made to a group that for years has invested in technology and scientific research, managing to combine tradition and innovation.
Its partnerships with numerous Italian and foreign universities, its research in the field of metallurgy, and on the chemical transformation of surfaces, as well as nanotech coatings and innovative polymers has enabled the concern hailing from the Campania region to become a center of excellence where knowledge and knowhow meet. The Social Accountability certification SA8000, recently obtained by the concern, highlights its commitment to also serving as a center of learning for future generations.
The Capo d’Orlando Award is a public recognition granted for remarkable achievements made in the fields of multidisciplinary research, science journalism, museum management and the promotion of science on the Internet.
Winners are presented with a silver plaque bearing the emblem of a fossilized fish discovered in the town of Capo d’Orlando (Vico Equense): a symbol of the geological past that has become the perfect emblem of human progress.
