Neos doubles its turnover and workforce
Neos, a young Fiorano, Modena-based company set up with the aim of designing and developing innovative digital printing technologies, has expanded its range of services to a number of sectors in addition to ceramics. The solid technical expertise built up by the company within the industry has enabled it to extend its field of applications and offer solutions suitable for a wide range of material substrates, from flexible packaging to metal, plastic, wood, paper, cardboard and labels.
This strategy will have a positive impact on revenues and employment, with Neos expecting to post a turnover of €10 million in 2021 (compared to the €4.8 million of 2020) and to take on 40 additional staff members before doubling its workforce in 2022. The company’s target markets include Europe, the United States and several countries in the Far East.
“Along with the technological shift towards digital printing, we want to establish ourselves as an industrial partner capable of providing an all-round solution for the entire surface treatment process, including pre- and post-printing,” says Vincenzo Palumbo, the company’s founder and head of technological and production development. “For this reason we are also able to supply inks directly.”
Digital printing allows for enormously expanded graphic design capabilities as well as the possibility of printing variable data. “In the current production scenario of increased overall volumes but highly fragmentary batches, digital printing is far more flexible compared to the analogue process and guarantees production efficiency even for small to medium-sized batches,” adds Palumbo. “And last but not least, the technology has limited costs relative to other steps in the process and the overall cost of the product while providing high added value in terms of aesthetics and consequently sales.”
Another important technological aspect of digital printing is its green credentials. Digital printing allows for a 30% reduction in consumables and because it is a native digital 4.0 technology that relies on software rather than physical media, no additional equipment is required. It can also ensure a lower environmental footprint through the use of VOC- and solvent-free water-based inks.
Vincenzo Palumbo works alongside Andrea Malagoli, a well-known manager in the world of packaging machinery who remains a partner at IMA and formerly served as deputy chairman of the Italian packaging machinery association UCIMA.
“We are aiming to achieve rapid growth without ruling out possible alliances with other groups,” commented Malagoli, who is head of finance and sales at Neos. “We are an industrial platform ready to cater to various sectors and intend to become the global benchmark for digital printing.”
