Sustainable development: creation of an international network
Leading regions in China, USA, Africa, France and Germany sign an agreement with Emilia-Romagna regional government.
Regions for global sustainable development, a three-day international conference promoted and organised by the Emilia-Romagna regional government, was held in Bologna from 12 to 14 June.
The event was attended by top representatives of the governments of Guangdong (China), California and Pennsylvania (USA), Gauteng (South Africa), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (France) and Hesse (Germany).
To conclude the meeting, the partners officially signed a document setting out an important goal for cooperation: to create an operational network between leading regions for the purposes of collaboration on crucial issues for sustainable growth, namely big data and digitalisation, city transformations, climate change and the environment, and welfare.
The discussion between the various governments focused on the concept of “territory” as a dynamic and proactive force in a process of sustainable and responsible globalisation centred on the needs of people, communities, work and business.
