Versalis completes the acquisition of Novamont
The operation is the final phase of the path undertaken in April
The entire share capital of Novamont, of which Versalis already held 36% is now entirely under its control as from 18 October 2023. The operation, announced on 28 April and authorised by the competent authorities, closed with the acquisition of 64% of Novamont’s share capital by Mater-Bi, the company controlled by Investitori Associati II and NB Renaissance. Novamont, whose CEO remains Catia Bastioli, is a società benefit, world leader in the production of bioplastics and in the development of biochemicals and bioproducts through the integration of chemistry, environment and agriculture and is B-Corporation-certified.
The company has 650 employees and has registered office in Novara, production sites in Terni, Bottrighe (RO) and Patrica (FR) and research laboratories in Novara, Terni and Piana di Monte Verna (CE). In addition, there is the Matrìca site in Porto Torres (SS) managed in an equal joint venture with Versalis, and a company established with Coldiretti for the development and distribution of solutions for agriculture.
As well as the Italian sites, there is a site in Estonia incorporated following the acquisition of a Norwegian company which is a global leader in the development, production and marketing of certified biodegradable and compostable applications.
Novamont has around 1,500 patents and patent applications; it operates abroad with sites in Germany, France, Spain and the United States and has a network of distributors in over 40 countries.
