The ecological transition has its ecosystem

7 - 10 November 2023, Ecomondo, Rimini

Edition number 26 for Ecomondo, the Italian Exhibition Group’s trade show which has become the international reference event in Europe and in the Mediterranean area for technologies, services and industrial solutions in the green and circular economy sectors.

Six macro thematic areas, a single ecosystem for the ecological transition: this is how show Ecomondo is presented, a place for meeting and dialogue between industries, stakeholders, policy-makers, opinion leaders, local authorities, the world of research and institutions, which puts the key elements into place for defining the strategic development of European Union environmental policy.

From transformation of waste into resources to the regeneration of soil and agro-forestry and food ecosystems, from energy obtained from biomass to the use of waste as secondary raw materials, to the entire integrated water cycle and environmental monitoring, the protection of the oceans and aquatic environments in their essential function for human food sustenance and economic activities.

This is the exhibition structure with which IEG presents to the market the technologies for sustainable development. Always evolving, this year the trade show also explores “frontier themes”, presenting itself to Millennials and GenZ - with their undisputed sensitivity for environmental protection - as a platform of ideas in order to give shape to today’s technological research and create the jobs of tomorrow. Hence, the exchange of knowledge and information on access to calls for research tenders, and European funding. In the light, moreover, of an emerging way to do business, in a special area the Rimini event focuses attention on B-Corps and their regenerative and socially responsible business model. For the first time, Ecomondo will occupy Rimini’s entire trade fair district, after K.EY, the Energy Transition Expo held in March, found an independent position in the sector's expo calendar.

Innovation hub and flagship projects

Waste as Resource, Sites & Soil Restoration, Circular & Regenerative Bio-economy, Bio-Energy & Agroecology, Water Cycle & Blue Economy, Environmental Monitoring & Control are the thematic exhibition areas of Ecomondo 2023, alongside which there are two additional sectors: “Water” and “SAL.VE”. In the first, visitors will find the entire water resource supply chain, from capture to restitution and reuse, with the emphasis on the digital transformation, today a key element for improving management. The biennial SAL.VE area, organised in partnership with ANFIA, hosts, instead, vehicles for ecological waste and garbage collection and disposal services.

There will also be space in the show for three industrial districts for which the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety (“MASE”) gave the green light with a contribution to 160 projects considered “flagship projects” for the circular economy. At Rimini, there will be the RAEE District with a special on technologies for repowering and new plant for recycling waste from electric and electronic equipment, photovoltaic panels and wind turbine blades. In the centre of the PAPER District, plant for the collection, logistics and recycling of paper and cardboard, in collaboration with COMIECO. A thematic itinerary, in fact, will be dedicated to the production of plastics, with a focus on recycling plant and marine litter.
