mcT Vision and Traceability Tools Bologna, 12th June 2014
The exhibition and conference dedicated to vision and ID solutions for industrial traceability and logistics applications, organized by EIOM in conjunction with the ninth Food Industry Technology mcT is now back in its second edition.
And in addition to presenting the latest breakthroughs in technology with the help of speakers and exhibitors, this year the European project SafetyPack will be highlighted. The research study - coordinated by the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnology of the CNR IFN and supported by t2i Trasferimento Tecnologico e Innovazione (partnered by the Chamber of Commerce of Treviso and Rovigo) - fields a new system of in-line, non-intrusive, real time gas sensors to be used in the bottling and packaging of food products for checking the quality and integrity of the packs. Also on show a laser spectroscopic sensor, which enables the measurement of the internal atmosphere and the checking of the packaging integrity without coming into contact with the product (and, therefore, without having to modify the packaging).
The sensor is the result of the investment of considerable resouces - namely a grant of 4.4 million euros, three years of development, the commitment of ten research institutes and industrial partners from five European countries. The mcT conference, including exposition of best practices and successful case studies, will also deal with identification (RFID, mono and two-dimensional barcodes) and emerging technologies for gathering and processing data in the converting, distribution and logistics fields. Workshops and training courses run by participant companies are scheduled for the afternoon session.
