PCD + ADF = innovation

Paris, 8th-9th February 2012

For the first time, Packaging Cosmetic Design (PCD) will be held alongside the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum (ADF) which will occupy a contiguous space, accessible from the same entrance and with the same ticket. Here follows a sneak preview (full program at www.oriex.fr).

Connecting to the Internet, advertising vehicle at point-of-purchase, 3D communications in real-time ... In the era of smartphones and the iPad packaging plays its own trump cards and becomes a means to create new services, for marketing and much more. This will be discussed at the coming Cosmetic Packaging Design 2012, the eighth edition of the fair-conference organized in Paris by Oriex: a "human" scale event held in a convivial atmosphere, which this year makes a qualitative leap, moving to larger premises (La Villette all’Espace Champerret) and featuring talks of particular relevance.

PCD - This year's Innovation Workshop focuses on two topics "How to formulate a patent to achieve ones goals" and “e@PCD: convergence between electronics and cosmetics". The first workgroup will be animated by the president of the CNE (the French Packaging Institute) and a representative of the European patent, trademark and design attorneyship, with the intervention of an expert from Chanel France. The second workgroup will feature L'Oreal’s Electronic Lab Manager and a professor of pharmacology of Paris-Sud 11 University, who will moderate the exchange of information and ideas not only on digital communications and e-commerce, but also on the growing role played by e-technology in the various aspects of the cosmetic product. In this context, a professor at the university clinic of Besançon will review techniques for measuring the effectiveness of cosmetic formulas and electronic dispensing aids. The event also includes  talks on the latest innovations in perfume packaging and dispensing and on beauty products and makeup, with a contribution from Estee Lauder on design and electronics as a means to a new and richer consumer experience. The  PCD Awards ceremony for innovation and environmental compatibility will be introduced by authoritative talks on the concepts and prospects of luxury "green" packaging.

Aerosol & Dispensing Forum - ADF 2012, that registers a 15% increase of exhibitors, will deal with the development of electronics in dispensing and bear witness to the growing variety of applications not only in beauty- and healthcare, but also in the field of food, DIY, decorating, painting, gardening, automotive.. The same themes will feature at the Innovation Workshop, where updates will be given on spray and foam formation, on the dispensing of powders and liquids of varying viscosity, and on the most interesting applicative experiences, also covering Asia’s leading markets - Japan, Taiwan and Korea first and foremost. Ad hoc talks will also be dedicated to triggers and airless systems, aerosols and the possibility, via the transfer of e-technologies, of varying the size of the drop, the smoothness as well as the speed and intensity of dispensing, this also at the hands of the consumer… During the event, the Paris Aerosol & Dispensing Awards will be assigned. At the end of the ceremony, the second edition of the “Paris Aerosol Restaurant” will be held to directly taste the quality of food packaged in aerosols, featuring sauces, foams, spices and culinary decorations prepared by the équipes Coltivia-Polenghi. A reminder that restaurant professionals are evermore resorting to products in spraycans to prepare and decorate their dishes.
