Eataly: bioplastics for fresh produce

Eataly was the first  high quality Italian agrifood  and restaurant & catering operator to opt for Mater-Bi® biodegradable and compostable carrier bags and disposable kitchenware (cups and cutlery) and today confirms its environmental record by also adopting bioplastic bags for its Milan fresh produce salespoint.

The project, in cooperation with Novamont, includes the progressive replacement of bags and gloves in all Italian and foreign salespoints located in areas where  the segregated collection of bio-waste is carried out.
We reiterate that, thanks to the introduction of bio-waste and the transparent bag, in two years Milan has gone from a segregated collection of  34.5% to 48.3%, placing it among the top European recyclers, alongside Vienna.
