Kenyan companies step up aid efforts
Kenyan F&B companies are continuing their efforts to support frontline organisations.
Broadway Bakery (Nairobi) has joined the fight against the coronavirus with a donation of $233,000 to the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund in Kenya.
The Coca-Cola Foundation, the Coca-Cola Franchise in Kenya and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) have contributed $300,000 to Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), Kenya Red Cross and Amref Health Africa to bolster their efforts towards curbing the spread of the virus in the country.
Along with financial aid, Coca-Cola will distribute sanitisers produced by Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) and will ensure the supply of its beverages to patients and medical staff in hospitals and quarantine facilities. The group is also using its marketing platforms such as social media, radio and TV to promote hygiene awareness through Stay Safe messages and is using its product labelling to pass on similar messages to consumers.
