New frontiers in vertical packaging

The VFFS of the R-Series range from MBP (PFM Packaging Machinery Group) extend the field of use of intermittent machines, creating a complete range of flexible packaging, also with recyclable film.

With the Vertical Form Fill and Seal R-Series range, MBP (a company belonging to the  PFM Packaging Machinery Group) has set a new milestone in the evolution of vertical packaging with flexible film.

The series includes 7 models with continuous intermittent motion, with relative twin versions, which combine operational simplicity and reduced dimensions with high production speed and a significant improvement in the OEE productivity index.
The twin versions offer new possibilities in configuring high-performance, compact and user-friendly packaging lines, covering all vertical packaging requirements, even with the use of recyclable film.

Minimum footprint, fast format changes, stretch control
The spearhead of the R-Series is the R700 model, an intermittent system that ensures extremely fast format changes and maximum stretch control, reaching production speeds of 120 pillow bags per minute, 70 square bottom bags and 70 steelo bags (square bottom with 4 side seals) per minute.
In terms of construction, the R700 stands out for a number of new choices that have made it possible to reduce its dimensions to a minimum: in fact, the machine occupies only 1.42 sq. m., thus adapting to the smallest spaces.
One of the main innovations concerns the motorized reel stand shaft, positioned at 90° instead of the classic rear position. In addition, a film-turning triangle has been installed on the upper side, which makes it possible to orient the film towards the forming tube and thus drastically reduce the number of rolls (from the usual 14/6 to just 6).
The steelo-bag sealing unit can be installed on the forming tube, maintaining the height of the latter unchanged with respect to the basic version.
The Twin version in a minimum space guarantees double productivity (up to 240 pillow bags per minute) with just one MBP multihead weigher.

From continuous to alternating motion
The operation of the machine is just as innovative. In fact, it provides for the continuous movement of the motorized reel-holder shaft and the alternate movement of the film and sealing drive unit.
An electronic compensating dancer transforms the continuous motion of the film arriving from the reel into alternating motion towards the sealing units.  This principle makes it possible to avoid the installation of a mechanical reel brake, guaranteeing very smooth dynamics and entrusting the software with the programmable management of film tension.
As a direct consequence, inertial energy is not transferred to the film, and it is therefore possible to increase its acceleration and/or sealing time to the benefit of productivity, while ensuring maximum quality and aesthetic performance of the pack.
