Certified and safe food delivery

Food delivery is proving to be a highly popular service during the coronavirus lockdown but is having to address consumer fears of inadequate hygiene and safety management on the part of the people who prepare and deliver the food.

In response, the startup pOsti has launched an application called trustDelivery in partnership with EY.

The application requires the restaurant worker and rider to complete a checklist of measures developed by Fipe (Italian restaurant, bar and catering federation), in compliance with food safety guidelines.

Each package will bear a tamper-proof seal label with a QR-code applied by the restaurant guaranteeing proper preparation, packaging and delivery. The consumer can then use the QR code to check that the food is safe. EY supplied the blockchain technology through its EY OpsChain Traceability infrastructure to ensure transparency in food delivery activities.
