Lantmännen Unibake expands in Norway
Sweden’s Lantmännen Unibake, the second largest bakery group in Europe, has taken over the production activities of French Bakery Company located in Drammen, Norway.
The deal, which includes the acquisition of production equipment and employees, will provide opportunities to expand in Norway with new products for foodservice and retail.
The aims of the operation include improving sustainability from field to fork through the use of locally sourced raw materials and lowering the CO2 footprint thanks to shorter transportation distances.
At the beginning of this year, the Sustainable Brand Index survey revealed that Lantmännen is considered the second most sustainable food brand by Swedish consumers.
The company has 36 plants and 6,000 employees in 20 countries and exports its products to over 60 countries worldwide.
