Lockdown health food surge drives boom in sales for Valsoia
Many consumers have made an effort to eat more healthily during the lockdown.
This trend is reflected in the first quarter results posted by Valsoia, a Bologna-based company specialising in the production of plant-based foods, mainly made from soy and derivatives. The company reported sales of €17.85 million (14.4% up on the previous year), an increase largely driven by the growth of the “Valsoia Bontà e Salute” brand and the entire Food Division, particularly the Santa Rosa line of jams.
“I am delighted that we have been able to safeguard our employees’ health and safety during such difficult times while guaranteeing continuity in production and distribution,” commented Chairman Lorenzo Sassoli. “We have seen a significant improvement in export sales (+58%) while increasing our market share in Italy.”
During the emergency, the company also took part in the Solidalitaly project by donating products for 20,000 food parcels distributed free of charge to needy families and provided financial support to the Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna for the purchase of ultrasound scanners for the rapid diagnosis of COVID-19.
