Packaging long pasta at high speed

Stiavelli (a historic brand and the packaging division of Pavan) presented at Ipack-Ima an updated version of its high speed packaging system for long pasta, consisting in a double doser (SPL-M) with a single lowering feeder made without pneumatic parts: all motion is managed by step motors.

The electronic part of the doser is separated from the packaging part; only the operator panel is shared in common, for quick, easy use. Some improvements have also been made to the SO-EVO packaging machine, facilitating the elimination of pasta fragments in the seal. This machine was presented at the fair with the one-of-a-kind “Stripping machine/MCR” unit, which can be activated by the operator when needed in order to reduce to less than 0.5% the number of packagings with contaminated cross sealing (formats for spaghetti with 1.6-1.7 mm diameter).
Stiavelli also presented:
• a print and seal control system for packaging that employs video cameras managed by Stiavelli software and positioned both inside and outside the packaging machine (independent structure complete with ejectors)
• a longitudinal ultrasound sealing machine as an alternative to traditional hot air systems;
• a new operator interface (using industrial touchscreen PC) that enables, among other things, managing any of the packaging system’s alarms (checkweigher and packaging machine) with “in line help”: in addition to being sounded, the alarms are illustrated with photos, facilitating identification and resolution of the problem, with the possibility of accessing the system’s maintenance manual directly.
