Premium pasta in responsible packs

A collaboration between Mondi and Fiorini International has resulted in a totally recyclable paper pack with unique design features designed for Antico Pastificio Umbro (an Italian premium pasta brand).

Once fully introduced and across the entire line, the new paper packaging solution will eliminate about 20 tons of plastic per year, a primary goal of the brand's sustainability policy.

The restyling of the bag is defined by the window made of transparent, recyclable and biodegradable cellulose, which allows full visibility of the contents. The sealed closure system with a special hot food glue and reinforced bottom ensure excellent performance in protection, preservation, hygiene and safety throughout the product life cycle. Finally, the strength and excellent printing performance make the new pasta packaging an effective means of communication, as well as ensuring total compatibility with filling machines.

All these features made it a success during The Waste Age Exhibition hosted by the London Design Museum and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation between October 2021 and February 2022.
