The search for vitamins: sales of Italian fruit and vegetables surge by 16%
Keen to boost their immune systems with extra vitamins during the coronavirus emergency, Italians are filling their shopping carts with fruit and vegetables.
A Coldiretti analysis of changes in household food purchases based on IRI data for the week 8-15 March has revealed a 16% growth in sales of these products in supermarkets across the country.
However, as Coldiretti points out, this positive trend is overshadowed by concern about foreign shipments and above all the lack of workers for new harvests.
