USA allocates US $9.5 billion to support agriculture
On 25 March, the US Senate approved a $2 trillion package for the coronavirus emergency, including $9.5 billion for an agricultural fund.
In particular, the fund is aimed at livestock and dairy producers and will support small businesses in the milk supply chain.
Jeff Lyon, general manager of FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative, expressed his approval. “We are extremely grateful for the relief package and for the attention that agriculture is receiving from the US Government. As an essential sector, this funding is crucial to keeping the supply chain open.”
The package has now been signed into law by President Trump.
