What France is proposing to safeguard the European agri-food sector
To respond to the current crisis and safeguard the European agri-food sector, the French authorities believe that coordinated measures are needed to support the industry, ensure continuity of supply and prevent already critical issues from becoming even more acute.
Some of the most urgent measures identified include maintaining the single market (free movement of food products and their components must be considered an absolute priority); measures to support struggling businesses; adaptation of sanitary and phytosanitary standards; special measures for the sea fishing and aquaculture sector; and the financing of communication campaigns to promote the consumption of fresh products.
