Blossom™, closures with low environmental impact
At Guala Closures, the development of innovative and sustainable closures has led to the Blossom™ range.
The name, which evokes the naturalness and lightness of a spring blossom, identifies the various types of closures made from different materials, intended for liqueurs, wine, water, beverages and olive oil and characterised by a reduced environmental impact. These are sustainable products, as they meet at least one of the four guidelines identified by Guala Closures to define its eco-design model*.
The launch of Blossom™ also demonstrates how sustainability is the fundamental pillar of an environmental strategy, focused on the ambitious goal of using 35% recycled material by 2025. In this regard, we recall the signing of an exclusive agreement with Oceanworks®, the largest global marketplace for sustainable materials, with the aim of developing a line of closures made using plastic recovered from the sea.
In the five R&D centers located in Italy, Mexico, UK, Ukraine and Luxembourg, Guala Closures’ sustainable closures will be subject to continuous development with the use of new materials, meeting and anticipating market needs and creating new concepts.
- Design to Reduce - principle based on the elimination of everything that is not necessary and the reduction of the use of limited materials and resources.
- Design to Change - adoption of recycled or renewably produced materials.
- Design to Fade - making waste disappear by creating completely biodegradable closures and using a few easily removable components.
- Design to Revive - recover and recycle materials used in closures
