The New Life of PVC
The CSI Recycled Plastic Certification attests to Laborplast's concrete and sustainable approach
Laborplast SpA, a leading Italian and European company in the regeneration of rigid PVC, is the first company in Italy operating in the production of recycled PVC cores and compounds to have obtained the CSI Recycled Plastic Certification. This qualification is conferred by CSI Spa (Centre for Certification and Polyvalent Behavioural Analysis of the IMQ Group - Italian Institute for Quality Mark) and certifies the presence of a minimum content of recycled plastic, equal to 30%, within the products. It is an acknowledgement that rewards the commitment to promoting and developing a culture of sustainability, an aspect that Laborplast puts into practice in its daily work.
The PVC production chain, in fact, is not hostile to the 'think green’ concept, but has instead embraced its philosophy: consider, for example, that PVC is a material that, due to its specific characteristics, can be recycled up to 7-8 times without losing its performance characteristics.
Estimating an average lifespan of 25 years (e.g. that of water pipes), a recycled PVC product can be used for about 200 years. In addition, according to a conservative estimate, for each kg of recycled PVC (replacing virgin PVC) approximately 2 kg of CO2 is saved. On this basis, the CO2 savings from PVC recycling in Europe is currently around 1.5 million tonnes per year.
The concept of a sustainable future has long been a cornerstone of Laborplast's daily production activities. This is demonstrated by the company's ability to keep up with the times, anticipating and respecting market demands. In order to comply with the environmental labelling regulations set out in Legislative Decree 116/2020, which enter into force on 1 January 2023, Laborplast has in fact designed a QR code that will be affixed to the packaging of all its products and which, once scanned, will refer to the correct disposal procedure for packaging materials and the products themselves.
