Partner of excellence
Motion control and safety on the Goglio Multioption G14 C VFFS packaging machine: supplied by Siemens, they ensure optimal levels of integration between the components and uniformity of design and programming.
The strength of Goglio’s proposal is inherent in the very type of packaging the company offers: increasingly widespread and popular, Fres-co System® flexible packaging is now synonymous with preservation and protection, lightness and practicality. The solution allows the transport of a greater amount of product in a less bulky container compared to traditional forms of packaging, ensuring obvious savings in terms of storage, transportation and disposal costs.
At Interpack 2014 Goglio presented one of its flagship products, the VFFS Multioption G14 C form/fill/seal machine. Suitable for packing coffee beans, powders, rice and more in protective atmosphere, thanks to easy format change and reel, with central welding or 4 corners, free flap or double fold, the machine can achieve half-moon cut with an invitation to opening, with or without Tin-tie. It is also equipped with a wide range of pack opening and closing options.
Longstanding partnership brings efficiency
For years Siemens has partnered with Goglio to create its packaging machines, supplying PLC, HMI, motion control and safety systems. The continuous technical-applicative cooperation between supplier and customer has enabled the full integration and optimal use of Siemens equipment.
The G14 Cpackaging machine in particular is controlled by a CPU Simatic S7-317T PN/DP with ET 200S device, which runs the Sinamics S120 servodrive with 1FK7 motors and Sinamics G120C inverters. The HMI is a 9” Comfort Panel.
Functional safety is guaranteed by the Safety MSS 3RK3 programmable control unit and the Sinamics Safety Integrated functions.
The Simatic PLC with double PN/DP port allows for the integration of all components via the Profibus and Profinet fieldbuses.
The same controller implements the tasks of motion control functionality to the machine productivity.
The choice of Siemens as supplier of most of the automation devices enables excellent levels of integration between the components and uniformity of design and programming of the same. Integration - guaranteed by the fieldbuses - greatly simplifies the diagnostics in both the commissioning phase, thanks to the oscilloscope as integrated electronic Sinamics, as well as remotely during production.
Regarding the parameterization, the solution adopted by Goglio, based on the Sinamics drive family, provides a single software development for both the servo part and the standard inverter, with consequent simplification of the engineering of this part of the application.
Thanks also to the performance of motion control devices (PLC Technology, Sinamics S120 drive and 1FK7 synchronous motors) Goglio’s machines attain better results and greater reliability.
The G14 C can produce up to seventy 250g packs per minute. In addition, the flexibility given by electronic monitoring allows fast changeovers for filling 50 g to 1 kg packs.
Goglio packaging machines are sold worldwide: the dense network of sales and technical support enable the Fres-co System® to be acknowledged and appreciated on all continents. The choice of Siemens as the main automation partners has enabled Goglio to benefit from the global after-sales support that the German multinational can offer.
This is confirmed by Daniele Tencalla (Technical Department Manager Machine Division of Goglio): «The partnership with Siemens began a few years ago and continues with success and mutual satisfaction. In all stages of implementation we had full support from the company, which for us translates into a perfect example of excellent cooperation between concerns. The decision to rely on Siemens was also clearly dictated by the proven expertise of the German multinational in projects of this type, while the adoption of Siemens solutions has enabled us to achieve significant advantages in terms of competitiveness, safety and quality».
Goglio: past and present Starting in Rho (MI) in 1850 with the birth of the first company of the Group producing paper bags, the story of Goglio retraces the steps of the Italian industrial development, through a journey of more than a century. Goglio is now a global company with 10 manufacturing plants, 7 sales offices in Europe, America and Asia and a diversified range of solutions for each sector: coffee, food products, vegetables and tomato preserves in retail and catering formats, petfood, detergents and industrial products. The Fres-co System® brand came into being with the first packaging solutions for coffee and is used in the broader sense to identify and clarify the Group’s offer: high barrier flexible laminates, packaging lines and plastic accessories constitute an integrated system supported by technology and technical assistance. |
