Advanced robotics and automation for the next generation multipack line
At Interpack (Hall 6, Booth D31–D57), Delta Smart Wrap makes its debut, developed through the technological partnership between ACMA, PWR and Schneider Electric
The 2026 edition of Interpack is the opportunity to experience first-hand the potential of one of the key trends in the packaging sector, linked to the increasing integration of robotics and specialized automation systems to create more flexible and high-performance applications. In this context, Delta Smart Wrap is an innovative line for multipack packaging that integrates robotics and specialized automation, ensuring agility and high performance.
The appointment is at the stand of Coesia (Hall 6, Booth D31 -D57), a leading company in the construction of packaging solutions for the CPG sector, in particular for the confectionery and detergent world. Here visitors meet Delta Smart Wrap: an integrated line that combines compact dimensions and high performance, intended for multipack packaging.
Specifically, it consists of an FP One horizontal flow wrapper unit by ACMA, a Coesia Company, and the modular robotic solution for pick & place SMARTLINE, provided by PWR, a Coesia Partner with over 25 years of experience in the CPG sector that is also part of the Alliance Partner Program – aimed at Schneider Electric’s top global system integrators. In addition, Delta Smart Wrap is equipped with a 2D vision software system that ensures quality control by rejecting products that have imperfections. The line presented at Interpack is designed for the packaging of bags of chips in multipacks of six packages up to 12 packages, as an application example of a modular and scalable solution that can be adapted to different types of snacks and different types of multiple packaging.
During feeding, the 2D vision system scans the products to detect their coordinates and orientation. The Delta robots then intervene inside the cell, picking them up with vacuum suction cups and positioning them accurately for the formation of the multipack.
The flow wrapper ensures uniform alignment of the products and proceeds with packaging, thanks to a system that automatically rejects any imperfect packages. The line is also prepared for integration with end-of-line machinery, such as palletizers, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted operation.
"We are proud to present Delta Smart Wrap to the market because it responds exactly to the request we had from many of our customers: to have a unique and flexible, compact and efficient solution. This line perfectly orchestrates the pick & regard to PLC control, motion management up to four axes with Lexium 62 servo systems, TM5 remote input and output modules and SH3 line servo motors; well-tested solutions from a supplier that ACMA has relied on for some time, also thanks to the ease of integration into its proprietary place and packaging processes by optimizing speed and performance and, very importantly, it is also managed in a unified way",
comments Roberto Lattarulo, Marketing Manager of ACMA.
Delta Smart Wrap, in fact, mounts a single iPC HMI interface from which the operator can control the entire line - pick & place, 2D vision and flow wrapper - reducing operational complexity, the learning curve and the risk of error.
Advanced technologies in response to customer needs
Delta Smart Wrap encompasses the most advanced technologies offered by PWR for the robotic part.
SMARTLINE, in fact, is a modular pick & place solution, able to respond to different ranges of needs using 1 to 4 robotic elements whose movements are guided by 2D or 3D vision algorithms that guarantee speed and absolute precision. The integration with ACMA’s FP One has been favored by ACMA’s adoption of automation and control components designed from an open perspective, therefore able to communicate with different systems regardless of the supplier and equipped with innovative logic.
‘On board’ of FP One there are the best technologies of Schneider Electric’s PacDrive platform with software.
The final result came thanks to “six-handed” work carried out in close and effective collaboration.
"Schneider Electric is a great partner for PWR, as a supplier but also as a technical consultant and innovation expert",
says Franc Magnée, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of PWR.
"They keep us up to date on new technologies and their future evolutions, which allow us to adapt our control solutions and the way we work well in advance, giving us a competitive advantage".
Delta Smart Wrap is able to assemble multipacks by combining from 4 to 12 individual packages, with different layouts within 500 mm in length, 160 mm in depth and 130 mm in height.
To discover this innovative line and the new generation packaging technologies used, visitors can go to the COESIA booth (Hall 6, Booth D31 – D57) and to the Schneider Electric booth (Hall 5, Booth A24).
