Bioplastics for packaging

FKuR Kunststoff GmbH offers a well-established bioplastic compound portfolio (Bio-Flex®, Biograde®, and Fibrolon® Terralene®), and distributes a comprehensive range of products such as Green PE (Bio-PE) of Braskem SA, Evonik‘s VESTAMID® Terra (Bio-PA) as well as Globio, a biobased PET: in this way customers can access a unique variety of materials from a single source, taking advantage of the bioplastics plus-points in the various market sectors (also in terms of differentiation).

Apart from satisfying the customers’ desire for sustainability, FKuR‘s bioplastics offer added functionalities.
For example, compostable bags and single-use catering items made from these materials can be disposed of together with food waste and organically recycled into compost.
Furthermore, for food packaging Bio PE laminated with Bio PET or Bio PA are available, which significantly increase the barrier properties of the materials and, therefore, the shelf life of the contents.
Among other things Düsseldorf witnessed the presentation of the first thermoformed tray for foods made with Bio-Flex® F 6611 by the Italian converter Plastisud (pictured), already used for catering in many Neapolitan schools.
The range of FKuR product applications is very broad and also includes the packaging of consumer durables and non-biodegradables.
