Hotmelt gluing in furniture packaging

The Swiss multinational Robatech is a European leader in the development and production of adhesive application systems, offering practicality, energy conservation and safety, including in the packaging
of furniture and accessories.

Final packaging is a decisive step for the furniture industry: indeed, the packaging has the objective of protecting the products so that they can be delivered to the end user in perfect condition.
For its part, then, the gluing process for the boxes destined to contain the furniture pieces, doors, cupboard doors, etc. plays a strategic role in the packaging process, because the perfect closure of the boxes, and consequently, effective protection of the products, depends on effective gluing.

For many years now, Robatech has collaborated with the most important global producers of packaging machinery for furniture, supplying installations for applying hotmelt glues equipped with the most modern technologies. Let’s see which.
Concept Greenline - Concept-Greenline™ series hotmelt melters are available in various versions with different reservoir capacities, enabling numerous combinations to meet any particular application requirement. Furthermore, a wide range of electroheated tubes, dispenser heads for dot or spray applications or spreading make them extremely versatile. The operator personnel protection standards are the highest in the sector thanks to optimized insulation of the reservoir, the dispenser gun and the distributor: the risk of burns or physical harm is reduced to a minimum.

Diamond, total insulation - Robatech’s idea to optimize the entire furniture packaging process, with the objective of cutting costs and conserving energy, originated with the design of Diamond: a true novelty, it was the world’s first totally insulated hotmelt applicator head. This characteristic offers obvious advantages. First of all, the adhesive material does not cool down when passing from the inside of the head to the nozzle, and consequently, it maintains constant viscosity until the moment of application on the product itself. What follows is that any air currents, which often occur at high operational speeds, cannot cool the adhesive.
The result? A very precise application with no filaments.
Secondly, the heat insulation conserves energy. Compared to conventional applicator heads, Diamond reduces energy consumption by up to 60%. This encouraged Robatech to conduct a series of tests on its completed production systems. The tests, along with direct comparisons, demonstrated that Robatech’s application systems truly are green.

Robatech Granulate Feeder - Lots of extra safety and practicality for automatically filling hotmelt applicators in the furniture industry.
Furniture packaging lines are often remarkably large. This makes it necessary to position the gluing system reservoir in places that are not always easy to reach, making periodic adhesive refills inconvenient. To improve this process, Robatech proposes Granulate Feeder, an automated filling system that guarantees constant and uniform feeding, while at the same time preventing scorching in the tub (and thus reducing maintenance stops) and the unproductive waiting periods caused by late filling on the part of the operator.
Granulate Feeder enables positioning the granulate adhesive container at a distance of up to 7 m from the hotmelt installation’s reservoir.
The objective is clear: to keep the operators as far away as possible from the high temperatures of the tubs containing the melted adhesive, protecting them from any possible danger. At a historic time in which the attention to accidents in the workplace is particularly sensitive, Granulate Feeder represents the solution to the fears of every business owner or production manager.
