New composite hermetically airtight coffee pack
Weidenhammer Packaging Group (WPG) has designed and implemented a line of composite cans for home use coffee, fitted with an innovative opening system called Peel-off Top, able to guarantee total container airtightness.
The material used for the body of the “tin” is composed 80% of recycled cardboard, laminated to an inner layer of aluminum foil with barrier properties. The closure, however, is constituted by the “ freshness seal” Peel-off Top, together with a metal base and a plastic cap to reseal the can once opened.
The Peel-off Top resembles the normal can lid, and is available in two versions, both equally airtight: with ring pull and with flat diaphragm and tear tab.
Compared to traditional metal containers, Weidenhammer’s is cheaper and lighter (40% down in weight). In addition, the massive use of recycled paper increases its sustainability and significantly contributes to the economic competitiveness of this solution.
