New feature in plasma treatment
At Converflex 2013 Ferrarini & Benelli, the successful and dynamic producer of corona treatment systems, will be launching an innovative plasma treatment in atmosphere.
This is a surface treatment that enhances the wettability of polymeric materials and metals, thereby ensuring the adhesion of inks, glues, coatings etc. The Ferrarini & Benelli system, which operates under conditions of atmospheric pressure and therefore does not employ vacuum technology, is composed of a high frequency generator and a plasma nozzle. The plasma is created inside the nozzle between two electrodes and then directed toward the substrate to be treated by means of an air flow; the area of treatment of an individual nozzle is 10 mm.
The Romanengo (CR) based company will also be presenting its other products that make up its offer for the converting industry. Among which the narrow web corona treatment station, especially for the printing of labels, characterized by the allocation of ceramic electrodes that allow the treatment of all types of materials, whether conductors or not. Equipped with a facilitated electrode opening and removal system with drawer extraction, the system ensures an excellent resistance of printing inks.
The other product in the spotlight is called Kappa Plus and is a high performance treatment station, extremely versatile and modular, which can be equipped with aluminum electrodes (to treat plastic film and paper) or with ceramic electrodes (to treat conductive materials in general). The modularity of the system and the different number of electrodes that can be used enable the right model to be devised for each type of production requirements and speeds.
In addition to being equipped with a special quick take-off system that facilitates maintenance and replacement, the electrode unit is equipped with a special air-gap adjustment system that acts from the outside and which means the system can be used on thick products.
