A pad model spectrophotometer

Seen and awarded: the SpectroPad color spectrophotometer launched at Drupa by Barbieri Electronic (Bressanone, BZ) has already won a prize for innovation, namely the European Digital Press Association (in the photo, the EDP prize handed over to Wolfgang Passler, on the left, and Thomas Liensberger).

This new portable, wireless, battery powered color measuring device, is striking aboveall for its cutting edge design inspired by the more famous pads we use for navigating and reading digital newspaper, and the industrial and digital print service, also in

the large and wide format. It has been designed to measure a host of different reflective media including banners, paper, board, fabric, PVC, vinyl and more, and completes an offer that already includes the Spectro Swing also for measuring thin and flexible media, and the Spectro LFP with the relative additional version for stiff and thick media.
This spectrophotometer has an opening of 6 mm and has a color touchscreen that interacts with the operator providing immediate measurement feedback. It can function without computer, and hence directly on the print machine, even without cutting the media; jobs can be stored in the device and measurement results sent through WiFi to the computer.
SpectroPad is the first measurement tool based on Barbieri “qb-technology”, that adopts innovatory LED Just Normlicht illumination (these too presented at Düsseldorf) and enables measurements conforming to M1 standards to be carried out (also MO and M2 if need be) as laid down in ISO standard 13655-2009.
