Labels 4.0 with digital finishing

DIGIFASTone by Prati allows the production of value-added labels at high speed and with extreme precision. Versatile and with a quick set-up, it is also functional for short runs of promotional labels in the food & beverage, wine & spirits, cosmetics, personal care and home care sectors.

Precision and modularity are the strong points of DIGIFASTone, the Prati brand line for digital finishing of printed reels. Fast, versatile and ergonomic, the finishing line has been conceived with a high level of automation. In its basic configuration (which can also be enriched with various additional units) it allows to carry out varnishing, die-cutting, counting, cutting and rewinding, processing a wide variety of materials: self-adhesive labels, clear-on-clear (including AD-MDO and UPM PP30), wrap-around labels, shrink sleeves, plastic films, unsupported paper and plastic materials, in a range of thicknesses from 12 to 350 microns.

Built by Prati with the new FUTURA open-platform technology and in line with the needs of Industry 4.0, DIGIFASTone generates a very small amount of waste material, significantly reduces set-up times and guarantees a register accuracy of 0.15 mm, even reaching 100 m/min in the configuration with laser die cutting. Advantages that place the machine at the top of current standards, making it suitable even for short runs.

Accessories and finishing processes

DIGIFASTone is available with various accessories to carry out a wide range of finishing processes: buffer for connection to digital printing machine; flexographic unit both rotary and semi-rotary for total and selective varnishing; digital varnishing and ennobling; lamination and cold gold; rotary and semi-rotary die cutting in register on already printed material; laser die cutting; hot gold and embossing; digital screen printing; control module for 100% inspection of printing quality; longitudinal cutting systems with manual and automatic blade positioning; single, double and turret rewinding.

Digital ennobling

The digital finishing unit allows to push productivity to the maximum and obtain tactile effects and textures without embossing plates or having to use thick substrates, decorations and textures up to 130 μm, or print Braille and Marburg Medium font for pharmaceutical products. It can be built with a single printhead, for coating thicknesses up to 250 microns at speeds of 25 m/min, or with a dual printhead, for thicknesses up to 280 microns at speeds of 50 m/min.

Laser die cutting

Thanks to this module, converters and manufacturers can guarantee high standards in the production of self-adhesive labels in many industrial sectors, from food & beverage to beauty and anti-counterfeiting.

The QR-Code/barcode reading system allows you to change jobs on the fly, promoting high productivity and completely eliminating tooling times. The advantages provided by the module are several: “just in time” delivery time; space saving; ultra design thanks to the possibility of processing detailed die-cut shapes; microperforation for special outputs; no limit in label length; wide library of substrates and liners of any thickness; no risk of pushing glue into the liner; multiple jobs (die-cutting and cutting at the same time). In addition, laser die-cutting ensures a fully digital workflow from “PDF” to delivery, for an efficient and digital business model: from web to labeling and from web to packaging.
