Quality knows no borders

When a tried and tested technology contributes to creating a success story… The case of Cama-Ozersky: from Italy to Russia, pick and place featuring efficiency.

Ozersky Souvenir is one of the largest manufacturers of confectionery products in Russia, specialising in the preparation of dried fruit covered in chocolate.
The company’s factory, based in Ozery, has installed advanced production systems, for the most of European origin, and has developed innovatory technology processes, based on the use of natural, high-quality ingredients capable of giving the end product a truly unique taste. This is why Ozersky’s chocolates are not only appreciated at home, but also sought after abroad. Quality of production and customer satisfaction remain the company’s chief priorities, and that have won them numerous national and international awards and acknowledgements.

Over the years this policy has generated a considerable increase in turnover, to which the Russian company has responded without ever overlooking its two priorities: full satisfaction of market demands and keeping its standards high.
This is why Ozersky turned to Cama Group, recognising the Garbagnate Monastero (LC) based company as a partner of quality and trusted supplier of hitech packaging systems. Together they have worked with commitment, engineering high performance lines to respond to the pressing demands for increases in productivity. Cama’s extensive knowhow in the field of robotics has undoubtedly played an important role here.
«We were under a lot of pressure to deliver this project successfully in order to meet the rapidly growing demand for our products - Ozersky’s Engineering Manager Aleksey A. Klecov states - and Cama always stood by us: the line was installed and commissioned on time and with a successful vertical start-up».

Complete multi robot lines: the advantages
Cama has been supplying robots for over 30 years now and, thanks to recent innovations, offers new generation products with the latest open architecture electronic controls. Hence not simple pick and place robots but customised systems, true and proper complete packaging solutions, conceived for specific packaging operations.

To meet Ozersky’s needs Cama has engineered complete lines each comprising four Triaflex Delta Robots, which by means of a smart vision system can pick irregular shaped chocolate covered candies coming randomly from the production line and position them correctly on continuous motion conveyors in a preset pattern.
The chocolates are selected according to their dimensions and then placed on two external conveyors.
The maximum infeed rate is 360 chocolates per minute (or 200 per lane).
Subsequently the products are wrapped and packaged.
The main advantages of the Cama packaging line can be summed up as follows:
- the extremely gentle-handling solution guarantees the integrity of the unwrapped chocolate-coated products;
- the high performance of the product pick-up system (here tackling irregular shaped chocolates) guarantees insignificant production waste.
- the smart vision system can optimize management of the product by automatically selecting the chocolates according to dimensions and arrival speed.
The unique approach of this new multi robot application is that Cama now adopts a single controller based on a standard technology for the entire system and can therefore be easily managed by the user’s technical staff.

Consequently, all functions are integrated in one control system, while interface and component costs are reduced considerably. In recent years Cama has invested heavily in developing its own delta robot, with the aim to further expand its range of "brand" robotic solutions, thus creating the preconditions for the birth of its Triaflex series: being light (they are manufactured in carbon fibre), the series is ideal for fast and flexible handling. The intelligent vision systems which they are equipped with represent a highly successful advancement, capable of even better responding to strategic customer needs.

The chocolate… that comes
in from the cold

Ozersky Souvenir (one of the largest Russian manufacturers in the confectionery industry) is based in the city of Ozery, southeast of the Moscow region.
During its 70-year history the company has managed to become leader on the Russian market of chocolates with nut and dried fruit fillings covered in delicious glacé chocolate. Indeed they were the first manufacturer in Russia to launch this type of chocolate at an industrial level: the “candy style” twist-wrapping in colored paper has contributed to the product’s success.
Over the years Ozerzky’s offer has broadened, and their product portfolio counts over a hundred different types of chocolates, capable of satisfying a broad range of consumers. Current market trends and increased competition have stimulated the company’s growth, they having released a growing number of products of “European” quality while maintaining the best Russian traditional patisserie standards, with due consideration for image, promotion and production.
