Smarter industry with PNG//Smart sensors

“Making Industries Smarter” is the philosophy behind the PNG//Smart, the revolutionary generation of intelligent photoelectric sensors developed by wenglor sensoric.

Able to think, learn and communicate autonomously thanks to the IO-Link 1.1 communication functionalities, wenglor’s PNG//Smart sensors can be used in type 4.0 applications in the field of distributed sensors.
The features offered by the IO-Link interface allow, for example, to easily save and duplicate the settings of each sensor to quickly configure other applications.
This enables a considerable simplification of operativity in the field, especially during the start-up phases, and allows considerable time saving.
The configuration of the sensors, even for the most complex applications, is performed using the wTeach2 software which, at the time of installation, directly adapts the switching thresholds in the diagrams and allows the combined analysis of several sensors simultaneously. It is also easy to replace a sensor, since it is sufficient to remove it and replace it with a new one, while configuration is transferred from one sensor to another through the data storage function.

Packaging solutions. The PNG//Smart family works indifferently with red or blue laser light, ensuring high quality optical performance. Even if mounted opposite each other or directed at the same point, these sensors do not influence each other and can therefore be installed in confined spaces offering maximum flexibility. Insensitive to background light disturbances, all PNG//Smart sensors are available in laser class 1.
This new generation of intelligent photoelectric sensors is particularly suitable for packaging applications because it integrates all five operating principles: reflective with or without background suppression, with reflecting barrier with or without transparency recognition and with a one-way photoelectric barrier.
At the moment the PNG//Smart sensors are available in the 1K miniaturized factor, one of the smallest sizes in the world: only 32x16x12 mm. Their weight of just 4 grams makes them suitable for application almost everywhere, even on moving parts such as linear axes or robot arms.
