Thanks to Aldi, plastic becomes “Social”
Aldi is launching a packaging waste management campaign called “Missione Im-ballo” with targets through to 2025.
The new challenge taken up by ALDI (part of the German ALDI SÜD chain) in collaboration with Carton Pack and Plastic Bank® consists of a selection of fruit and vegetables sold in food packaging made of 100% Social Plastic®.
ALDI is the first major retailer to support the social enterprise Plastic Bank® in Italy, committed to collecting and recycling plastic released into the environment and working with the most directly affected coastal communities (Haiti, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil and Egypt) to recover waste that is subsequently converted into Social Plastic®.
Through a partnership with Carton Pack, a leading Italian fruit and vegetable packaging converter and logistics company, Aldi has begun selling blueberries and raspberries from the ALDI “I Colori del Sapore” line packaged exclusively in Social Plastic®.
