The business being sold, referred to as “Fuller’s Beer Business”, comprises the entirety of Fuller’s beer, cider and soft drinks production and also includes the Griffin, Cornish Orchards, Dark Star Brewing and Nectar Imports brands.
Under the terms of the deal, Asahi will acquire the Beer Business brands and receive a perpetual, global, exclusive and royalty-free license to use certain trademarks (including the “Fuller’s” name, logo and cartouche) for the provision of beverages.
Ownership of the licensed trademarks will be retained by the Fuller’s group, which will be free to focus on its core business of pubs and hotels where 87% of its operating profits are generated.
The deal will also provide significant capital to accelerate investment, both organically and through future acquisitions.
