Coca Cola doubles capacity at Kostinbrod
Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company Bulgaria has invested more than €24 million in a new PET bottle production line which will double production capacity at the Kostinbrod plant in western Bulgaria.
The plant, which started up on 26 August, is the most modern and efficient within any of the 28 countries where Coca-Cola HBC operates.
It is 25% faster than the old plant while consuming 20% less energy and will reduce the quantity of water used per litre of produced beverage by 3.3%. The plant will also use 600 tons of recycled PET materials.
The increase in production (around 9,000 half-litre bottles per hour) will enable the company to export to neighbouring Romania, Serbia and Grecia, as well as to other EEA countries.
The production of Coca‑Cola in Bulgaria dates back to 1965 and annually the Company produces over 300 million litres of drinks at its two plants in Bankya and Kostinbrod.
