Delverde pasta returns to Italy
After a period of 10 years, the pasta maker Delverde is returning to Italy in a 100% acquisition by the Newlat Food group. The Reggio Emilia-based group led by Angelo Mastrolia paid €9.25 million to the Argentine multinational Molinos Río de la Plata, which had purchased the pasta maker in 2009.
Newlat, which operates in the milk, wheat-based product, gluten-free and baby food sectors, intends to invest strongly in Delverde Industrie Alimentari with the aim of promoting global awareness of the quality of this premium classic, organic and healthy pasta brand.
The operation is the latest step in the development programme that the Emilia Romagna-based company has been pursuing for several years through the acquisition of historic brands from foreign multinationals such as Nestlé, Kraft Heinz Company, Ebro Foods and Parmalat (under Bondi management). In Germany it has also acquired Birkel and Drei Glocken, two market-leading brands in the pasta sector.
Newlat Food has around 1200 employees working at 10 production sites in Italy and Germany. In the last 10 years its annual revenue has grown from €20 million to €350 million and it is now poised for listing on the Star segment of the Italian stock market.
