Huhtamaki starts up new line in Russia

Huhtamaki, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of packaging for food and drinks, has opened a new packaging line in Ivanteevka, Russia as part of a €7 million investment announced in November 2018.

The Finnish company has had manufacturing operations in Russia since 1994, where it manufactures foodservice packaging and egg packaging through two of its units (Ivanteevka, Moscow and Alabuga, Tatarstan).

The group is strongly committed to the development of eco-friendly packaging solutions such as the Fresh fibre-based ready meal tray, which will begin industrial-scale production by the end of 2019 in Lurgan, Northern Ireland.

The company has also launched its Huhtamaki blueloop concept, a platform shared with customers and partners aimed at collecting information and ideas for the design of recyclable flexible packaging.

During the first nine months of the year, Huhtamaki reported 10% growth in net sales to €855 million over the same period the previous year.
