The new Better with Less–Design Challenge 2019–2020 has been launched

Metsä Board, a leading European producer of premium paperboards made with pure fresh fibres, has launched the second edition of Better with Less–Design Challenge, the competition that invites students and designers to create new eco-friendly packaging solutions that combine environmental sustainability with the primary functions of conventional packaging.

Projects should be submitted by 5 January 2020 via the website www.betterwithless.org, choosing one of the four categories: cosmetics, e-commerce, food packaging and wild card.

The jury will consist of world renowned experts in the sector: Alissa Demorest, Editor-in-Chief of French luxury packaging magazine Formes de Luxe; Andrew Gibbs, Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Dieline; Charles Ng, Founder & Chief Brand Consultant of MCL Group Hong Kong / China; Clark Goolsby, Chief Creative Officer at Chase Design Group; and Stefan Junge, Professor in Packaging Technology at Beuth University of Applied Sciences, Berlin.

The jury chairman is Ilkka Harju, Packaging Services Director, EMEA and APAC and a member of the Metsä Board.

The top three projects in the Better with Less – Design Challenge will win prizes of €7,000, €2,000 and €1,000 respectively. As an additional prize, Metsä Board will offer the opportunity for one student to take part in an internship at its Excellence Centre in Äänekoski, Finland.

The winners will be announced in spring 2020.
