Nonno Nanni launches new compostable packs

The new packaging maintains all the product’s properties and can be disposed of in organic waste and turned into soil fertiliser.

The fresh cheese producer Nonno Nanni is intensifying its environmental commitment with the introduction of new formats and compostable packaging for three items in its product range: Fior di Stracchino, Stracchino with probiotic ferment and Stracchino with probiotic yogurt culture.

The old 150g plastic tub is being replaced with a brand new 165g pack made entirely from compostable material that can be disposed of in organic waste and turned into soil fertiliser. Stracchino with probiotic ferment and Stracchino with probiotic yogurt culture are also available in a brand new 100g format and a compostable pack in addition to the 250g and 125g versions already on the market. The flowpack and inner tray are made from a material created from agricultural residues that can be disposed of directly in the organic waste stream, as confirmed by the company’s UNI EN 13432 certification issued by DIN CERTCO. As well as being environmentally friendly, the new pack maintains all product properties.

Another important step the company is proud of is that the entire stracchino line has become carbon neutral as part of a corporate social responsibility project called La Bontà In Ogni Gesto (“Goodness In Every Gesture”), which involves completely offsetting CO2 emissions and adopting ethical, social and environmental actions.

“We are strongly committed to compostable packaging, which is one of the best practices we introduced a few years ago. We firmly believe that it is necessary to pursue an organic, coherent and long-term sustainability strategy, which is why we have decided to adopt a series of environmental, ethical and social measures that reflect our commitment to change for the benefit of future generations,” says Silvia Lazzarin, CEO of Nonno Nanni.
