Self-cleaning anti-microbial fabrics developed in Siberia

Rambler, a leading Russian online media outlet, has reported that scientists from the Siberian Section of the Academy of Sciences have developed self-cleaning anti-microbial fabrics using a special TiO2 nanocrystal and nanoparticle coating.

Titanium dioxide’s well-known ability to destroy certain bacteria, yeasts, fungi and viruses and eliminate dirt makes it suitable for the production of photoactive materials for medical masks and overalls in cotton and polypropylene fabrics.

The PPE cleaning process will be carried out at night using ultraviolet radiation.
