Sorma Group launches new 100% recyclable paper eco-pack
The innovative highly breathable solution is already undergoing testing and will be launched onto the market by the end of the year.
By the end of 2020, Sorma Group will officially bring to market its new 100% recyclable paper packaging for fruit and vegetables. The new packaging features an innovative cellulose mesh window that allows the contents to breathe, thereby extending shelf-life while allowing for product visibility.
The paper packaging will be available in five versions: PaperPillow and PaperStandup, both with or without finger holds, and PaperVertbag. All versions are made of 100% FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper.
The new line further extends the company’s already wide range of environmentally friendly packaging solutions, which include a single-material recyclable plastic line that has gradually been reduced in weight by 60-70%, the patented Sormapeel integrated plastic and paper line launched onto the market at the beginning of this year, and packaging made of 100% compostable material introduced last autumn.
A further strength of the new material is its adaptability to packaging machines, as it will be possible to use the paper on Sorma’s widely used SBU packaging machine model through the use of a simple kit without the need to purchase special paper processing machines.
“We have begun initial testing of our new packs and the results have been extremely positive,” says Andrea Casali, Sales Director for Italy at Sorma Group. “We have introduced the paper packaging line in France, one of the most receptive markets for recyclable paper solutions, and have conducted tests in Italy, including at the facility of the Bologna-based market-leading fruit and vegetable processing company Romagnoli F.lli spa. We aim to ensure the highest level of service for all sector companies and retail chains looking to invest in innovative, high added value packaging in all the Group’s target countries.”
