The future of cosmetics is inclusive
The new beauty trends for the near future were revealed at Cosmoprof Worldwide, the world’s beauty epicentre, through CosmoVision 2023-2028 and CosmoTrends Report, two pieces of research carried out in partnership with Beautystreams. The 2023 edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide in Bologna once more put the spotlight on the evolution of the cosmetics industry and on the trends that will most influence consumers’ purchases and habits. Current significant changes in the technological, social and environmental fields will continue to shape consumer models, generating domino effects in all sectors.
Various taboos, most of all, are disappearing in the beauty world, and cosmetics are enjoying fresh vigour as a means of self-expression. On the basis of new demands, in order to continue to be competitive, companies in the sector will, therefore, have to align with the new trends and invest in a profound transformation.
Celebrating uniqueness and all phases of life
With the slogan, “Celebrating otherness - Beauty in the unique”, inclusivity becomes the approach around which the beauty market of the future will revolve, while the “one fits all” approach will gradually disappear, leaving space to hyper-personalisation, with the intention of favouring what makes an individual unique, starting from their personality, cultural affinities, sexuality, definition of gender and age. Consumers will be attracted by those brands, products and services that are able to communicate to them the same values as them, but also to satisfy demands linked to all ages and the different phases of life, helping them to accept the effects and transformations.
Digital breaks down stereotypes
To support greater personalisation of the offer, digital applications can help the consumer to make an autonomous diagnosis of their body’s needs, becoming, in this way, the key player in the purchasing process. This contributes to breaking down stereotypes attached to gender, focusing attention on the needs of an increasingly ethnically diverse population.
