Perfume Academy Award 2017: the winners
The winners of the Perfume Academy Awards 2017 were announced on 3 May at the Permanente Museum in Milan.
104,000 consumers took part in the voting held between 23 January and 13 April in order to decide the best men’s and women’s fragrances. The top prizes went to Narciso Eau de parfum Poudrée Narciso Rodriguez and Man Black Orient Bulgari. Members of the public were able to vote online using the contest website, its Facebook page or the Perfume Academy app (a dedicated area at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna for the perfumes sector and over 900 Italian operators participating in the initiative).
A panel of experts, members of the Perfume Academy’s administrative commission (eight beauty editor-bloggers and eight representatives of retail) selected winners in five categories: best olfactory creation, best Made in Italy fragrance, best packaging, best exclusive brand name collection, best artisan fragrance.
For its part, the VIP jury, made up of personalities from show business and the arts, chose five winners in the category best communication.
This year a special prize was also reserved for the perfume-maker with the best sales within the first six months of launching a product on the Italian market. This exclusive recognition went to Chanel’s fragrance creator Olivier Polge for Chanel N°5 L’Eau, a restyling of the French perfumery’s iconic scent.
Guests at the ceremony included internationally renowned nose Philippe Starck, who in 2016 launched his own line of fragrances called Starck Paris.
