H.B. Fuller enhances its offer of adhesives for flexible packaging
Supporting European manufacturers of flexible packaging in their adhesive challenges, sharing experiences, inspiring ideas to accelerate innovation and transfer technologies from one market to another.
H.B. Fuller reaffirmed its mission with the 1 July 2016 appointment of Claudio Bonacara as Business Development Manager for flexible packaging.
An Italian chemist with robust experience in research and development of polyurethane adhesives for flexible packaging, Bonacara has worked for many years in direct contact with converters and their suppliers, both European and international.
Among the main goals of his mandate is the strengthening of H.B. Fuller’s commercial partnerships in Italy, with the help of the presence of facilities in Italy through which the concern is able to act as a reliable and attentive supplier.
«What’s more - explains Bonacara - the most recent reports by PCI Films Consulting Ltd. confirm that Italy is one of Europe’s market leaders, accounting for 12.6% of total production, outperformed only by Germany (18%) and France (13.5%)».
He also made some insightful comments on the fragmentation and other characteristics of the Italian market: «Some 60% of production of flexible packaging is conducted by 6 large converters, while the remaining 40% is from numerous SMEs specialized in generic solutions with medium performance (such is the case of packaging for pasta or coffee). The applications requiring high performance (foods with aggressive ingredients, boil-in-bag packaging, etc...) are left to the large operators. But all share the need for rapid and skilled technical assistance from their suppliers, as well as quality adhesives with consistent performance».
H.B. Fuller’s complete range of solutions is adapted to both general use applications and those for medium to high performance, guaranteeing the required standards.
